PointRoll, along with ShopLocal, released Holiday Advertising research today. Reach the Full Blog Post Report. In the report, key findings include:
- Interaction Rates Hit Lower Points in Early December: Most marketers are still preparing their campaigns in late October, but consumers are eager to interact with ads as indicated by these solid interaction rates.
- Time Spent Peaks in Early November
- High Levels of Click-through Rates in Early November
- Impressions Double Mid-November and Early December: Many measures of consumer engagement (as measured by consumers’ interactivity with PointRoll’s rich media advertisements) indicate that consumers are interested in learning about advertisers’ offerings well in advance of Black Friday.
From what I can gather from the post, the best possible customer engagement happens end of October and November. Customers have already made up their mind by the time December rolls around, so it's better to launch the bulk of your holiday campaigns in early November.
Maybe create a social campaign for it now, so that your offers are being shared in full force during peak influencing time in early to mid November ;)
